Process

STEP ONE: BRAINSTORM

To start this project, you will be put into small groups. Please keep in mind the two important C's to achieving success in this project: Creativity and Cooperation.  Begin this project positively with creative thoughts, respect, and cooperation amongst one another.  First, you will all brainstorm together; discuss dreams you each have had.  These can be dreams that are crazy and unrealistic stories, or they can be dreams you want to achieve.  For example, will you be telling a crazy story about how you adventured back in time?  Or will you be telling us about how you are going to become the next American Idol or NBA star athlete?  Through discussion as a group make a decision on what the plot of your dream's narrative will be and formulate the focus of your project.  Brainstorming is one of the most fun parts!  Throw out any ideas you have and be very creative.  In the end, when a decision is made on what dream you want to depict, write down how you will depict this story through photos.  Decide how it will progress through 4-6 slides.

STEP TWO: COLLECT PHOTOGRAPHS

Once you decide how you want to capture your dream and narrate your story among 4-6 photographic slides, it is time to capture part of those ideas in real life!  Make sure you have an idea of the pictures you are trying to capture before you go out as a group and take them. Go out and take pictures that capture your ideas.  For example, if you want to be flying in your dream, pose in a way that looks like you are flying!  Expression and position are key.  Get creative, be convincing, even be silly!  There is so much a photograph can capture.  Produce images that will be fun to work with in photoshop.

STEP THREE: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

After you have captured your photos, it is time to spice them up and make these dreams really come true.  Upload the photos you have taken onto a computer and transfer their files onto ADOBE PHOTOSHOP.  You will be using this program to edit your photos.  Use any tools available to your advantage.  Examples: Use to laso tool or select tool to copy, cut, and paste yourself into a new setting!  Actually put yourself in a sky, in space, in candy land, under the sea.. really, wherever!  Put objects in your hands, animals around you, clothes on you!  This is a program that is nearly limitless.  Have fun with colors; completely create or transform a dream space!  Capture these dreams as best as you can, have fun, and be excited as well as convincing!

STEP FOUR: PHOTOSTORY 3

When you are done editing your photos on photoshop, and are completely satisfied with your creations, your next step is to upload them onto the program PhotoStory 3.  This is where your narrative will come into play.

1st:  Make sure you have a planned narrative to go with your story.  Write it out if you have to, just a couple of sentences/ ideas per photo.  This narrative is important with tying your photos together and creating purpose to your photo selections.  This is how we will make sense of the dream you create.  Make sure your narrative is simple and clear.  Within your group, form your short story.

2nd:  It is time to match this story / narrative dream to your photos.  When you place your photos in order onto PhotoStory 3, you will be given the opportunity to also add audio and text.  Have fun and as always, be creative!  Speak your narrative in time with your photo slides and add text if you want to.

In all, this is where you will be piecing this full project together.  This is your proof of understanding and showing off your main ideas and creations.  This is where your dream comes true.  Make sure your photos have a clear narrative whether it is typed or spoken, and a creative as well as clear dream is made.  PhotoStory has this title for a reason! Create your story, show us your wildest dreams.

STEP FIVE: Preview & Submit

Being proud of your work is so important!  When you are done with editing and posting your project on PhotoStory, make sure you slide through it as a group a few times.  Check for spelling errors and craftsmanship.  Look at the evaluation sheet and make sure all of the requirements and expectations are covered.  When you are proud of your work and your group has thoroughly reviewed it, finish, save, and submit it.

Send your PhotoStory to our email : ARTEDDreamers777@gmail.com.

Also, upload your published PhotoStory onto the class blog where we can all look and review one another's wildest dreams.  We are so excited to see the masterpieces you each will create!
